somehow searching for “mugshot” on Google returns DailyMugshot.com on the First Page!  Kind of fun.  There is a post around 4 months ago putting us on the 4th page.  Thanks Google!  Ze Proof:

We have had voting live for about week now, and so far so good.  Yesterday around 1400 votes took place, the highest to date.  The community is choosing some fun winners.  All and all I think the new feature is a success.  Please let me know if you have any thoughts about it.

Next??  Next unless any of you say otherwise, I’ll be adding search into the gallery.  Been requested quite a bit.

This week I hope to release a new feature to the site.  It should be fun.  Spent most of the weekend working on it.  And Rogie has been a huge help as always.  So hang tight!  More soon.

Hey DMS’ers, Your favorites are now visible on your mugshow page.  This is like visitors being able to see your friends on Myspace.  Visitors can click on a favorite to head over to the favorite’s mugshow, and then click on one of the favorite’s favorites, and so on, and so on….forever!!   This is cool because it lets you find new mugshows in a totally new way.-Keith 

Today we officially launched two new features: file uploads and captions.  

•  File Uploads:  You can now upload images (jpg or png <1MB) which means you no longer need a webcam.  We already have our first upload from a digital camera!
• Captions:  Upon saving the mugshot, you have 30 characters to leave a not about how you look or feel.

Whats Next?Well let me first say that with these two functions in place, we are really close to having a base system upon which we can start doing some really fun things.  Over the next few weeks we will be releasing some new functionality which will complete this foundation.  Then….well…you will have to wait to find out! Thank you all for your continued feedback, and especially for just using the site.  Thats what its all about. -Keith

Hey guys, a small update:

Infrastructure: Lots of technical stuff under the hood in place to allow the site to scale.  Some medium size bugs worked out (no major bugs left ).   Continuing to enhance performance via different forms of nerdy analysis.

New Feature:Added RSS feeds, so now each user has their own personal RSS feed.

Ahead: In the coming weeks the site will see some major functionality enhancements, but keeping quite for now so as not to set expectations just yet.

So in about 10 days we have a lot of new users!!  Hundreds actually.  I’m now in the process of building out the site’s infrastructure (more servers, more elves, etc…), so hopefully as the site grows everything stays happy. 

It’s been just over one month since the last post.  So much has happened.  Firstly, the tech stuff:

•  Favorites are complete.  You can designate favorites and find them easily in the gallery via filters.
• Stats complete.  Next to each mugshow you can see interesting stats
• Invites Complete.  Its now super easy to invite your friends using your webmail address book.

Secondly, for the community:

• The site was recently featured in a few blogs, and consequently the site has seen its first bit of momentum (over 100 new faces).  Its fantastic to see new faces, and its a perfect way to see where the system bottlenecks are, so I can fix.  DMS’ers are great with feedback, and are so helpful with feature requests and bug reports. 
• While only a week or so into the site going live, there are over 1000 mugshots taken.

Features Going forward:

•  Ability to download your images for personal use.
• Ability to enter captions for each mugshot, around 20 characters.  These can be seen in mugshow
• Optional email reminders

So all in all a healthy update, and of course I plan to keep at it.  Thank you all for the feedback, support, and most of all for using the site and having fun!

Been just under a month since the last post.  Lots going on!!

•  Mac Reminder application 1.0 is finished!  Ryan is amazing.
• Win Reminder application 1.0 is finished!  Ed is amazing.
• Totally new Take Pic code.  MUCH faster and robust.  Nick is amazing.
• Spent this weekend and last under DMS’s hood optimizing.  Faster, and more scalable.

As you can see, a lot of the major changes happened with the help of others.  Thank you all so much!  Features to come shortly: 

• Pagination in browse area and Sort-By options
• Friends designations, making it easier to keep tabs on those you care about
